Colors of the Sun

2025
7.5 minutes

Instrumentation:
6 Tenor Trombones
2 Bass Trombones

This piece represents a slow sunrise and the variety of colors the sky emits during this process. The beginning aleatoric sections depict the start of the sunrise, and by the end of the piece the sun has fully risen. Inspired by the improvisatory nature of Stuart Dempster’s trombone choir piece “Morning Light”, Colors of the Sun takes on a similar soundscape that captures the beauty of the sunrise.
