Bio
Peyton Gray (b. 2001) is a composer from Evansville, Indiana. He has written music for concert band, orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles, and electronics. In addition to composing original music, he has also arranged music for high school marching bands. Peyton’s music is largely inspired by nature and his own life experiences. His music is characterized by modal, pandiatonic harmony and rhythmic elements of minimalism, math rock, EDM, and other genres.
Peyton recently received a MM in music composition from Bowling Green State University where he studied composition with Christopher Dietz and Marilyn Shrude and trombone with Jeremy Marks. He also holds a BM in music composition from Illinois State University where he studied composition with Roy Magnuson, Carl Schimmel, Alex Stephenson, and Roger Zare and trombone with Mark Babbitt. Peyton's music has been performed by ensembles such as HYPERCUBE, the Illinois State University Wind Symphony, and Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra as well as many fellow colleagues and friends.
